Help with FPLedit

Railways need timetables. These are usually done by hand or using Excel or other tools which are not really suited. For model trains, there is an open source program called FPLedit: <https://fahrplan.manuelhu.de/>

This tool works fine also for heritage railways, as long as the network is not too complex. The tool is already mature, but there are some features in the pipeline which need testing. The auhtor probably also welcomes support

There are many factors which determine if a railway club is right for you and sometimes it is hard to check them all beforehand...

Proximity

Usually you do not want to spend too much time commuting to the railway, so something close to your home is nice. Check the

This Wiki is a follow up on this meeting to collect everything for further workshops and to provide an entry point to heritage railway for chaos entities.…

Ticket selling

A lot of railways sell tickets only on site or using weird self built solutions for selling via their website. There is a slightly more professionall online ticketing system called <https://www.fahrkartendrucker.de/> which was developped with support from the "Verband deutscher Museums- und Touristikbahnen", the overarching organization of many of the german heritage railways. This works, but is seriously outdated and lacking a lot of features.

As railway people mostly want to run railways and even the IT nerds in railway clubs have more than enough to do, good tutorials and HowTos are needed to describe the setup, the do's and dont's of the different software and the path to relatively standardized solutions.

So, you are interested in trains, consider helping at a heritage line but have no idea where to start and what to do? This is your page :-)

Volunteering

Most heritage lines in Germany are organized as “Verein”, which means you can join them for a yearly membership fee and depending on the club rules you have some benefits like free rides or you might have some membership duties like working a specific time for the club.
